Protein Industries Canada (PIC) is an industry-led, not-for-profit organization created to position Canada as a global leader in food production and value-added agriculture. We are one of Canada’s five Global Innovation Clusters; working with private sector industry partners to create co-investment projects that have the potential to transform the agriculture and food production sector.
PIC is seeking a Financial Analyst to contribute to the project reporting function of the organization. The successful candidate will have a keen and detailed eye to review monthly cost submissions, analyze data for eligibility and calculate reimbursements due to project members. The Financial Analyst may also periodically be required to assist with other corporate and project reporting.
While applications are welcome from qualified candidates across Western Canada, preference will be given to those based in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Position Overview
- Review project claim submissions to ensure completeness and proper formatting.
- Perform analysis over cost eligibility according to program requirements.
- Prepare routine financial reports, dashboards and progress summaries.
- Prepare variance analysis, comparing actual results to budget and forecast; providing insights to program managers and leadership.
- Collaborate with accounting (operations) and other departments to ensure data accuracy, consistency and compliance.
- Provide training and guidance to project members on PIC’s reporting requirements.
- Support the annual forecasting process and monthly accounting entries.
- Develop and refine processes and procedures for project specific reporting.
- Participate in the development and execution of program audits.
- Contribute to semi-annual reporting requirements for funding bodies.
Qualifications and Experience
- You exhibit high attention to detail with the ability to spot variances, trends, and data anomalies across large and varying datasets.
- You demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills to translate financial data for non-financial program managers.
- You have a proven ability to work autonomously, manage multiple competing priorities, and maintain high standards of integrity under tight deadlines.
- You are a proactive professional who takes ownership of independent tasks while actively building cross-functional relationships to support the team.
- You have developed a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Vlookup, Xlookup, Pivot Tables) and familiarity with financial reporting or ERP software (Quickbooks is an asset).
- 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis or project accounting
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
